Witchcreek Arts

Witchcreek Arts is a tax service specializing in the needs of people in the arts. Since we are both working artists, we understand how your commitment to your creative work puts you in an unusual tax filing situation. Over the years our clients have said that our innovative and trusted service provides them with a uniquely personal and friendly experience. We’ve been told that they sometimes wonder how doing their taxes can be so totally painless.

On our site you can schedule your own appointmentget and fill out the organizer and send us questions. But if you cannot bear to give up your annual scheduling chat, you can do it all by calling Betty at our office.

Telephone appointments have proven to work very well, and we serve clients around the world.

Fees and Other Essentials

Things We Must Get From You

1. We must receive your information at least 3 days before your scheduled appointment, even if you are sending via FedEx or some other overnight service. This gives us time to think about your return, consider options, research your questions, etc. before the appointment, making your consultation more productive. If we don’t get your information in time it may be necessary to reschedule your appointment.

2. You must let us know if you accept or decline the Audit Coverage Agreement (known fondly as the United Artists’ Audit Support Agreement) by signing and sending it to us prior to your appointment. You must also sign and return the Tax Preparation Information Authentication page and the alternate 8879 forms (also found in the organizer).

3. It saves us time if you fill out the basic information, even if you don’t use our organizer.

4. By signing up for an appointment, you acknowledge that you understand and agree to our fees, including late payment penalties. (See below).

5. You must make a $100 deposit before you can make an appointment. When your return is completed you must pay the remainder of your invoice within 30 days. There will be a 1% per month late charge added on for payments over 30 days late.

Fees

$520 is the regular base rate for this year. The base rate is determined by an average 3-hour return. Fees will increase from the base rate with the complexity of the return or for poorly organized information.  (We have been lax about this in the past, so don’t be shocked if your fee is higher.)

$445 is the Early Bird Base Rate for continuing clients whose appointments occur between January 25th and February 17th.

$520 is the base rate for extension filings.

$200 is the flat rate for single artists who gross under $22,000 in total income.

$510 is the base rate for partnership returns. We will add a $104 computer fee–our cost–as well.

$45 per hour is the fee for 1099 preparation. Please let us know as early in January as possible if you will need us to do this.  1099s are now due on January 31st.

Getting Your Return

We will email you a PDF copy of your Federal and State returns after we e-file them with the proper governmental agency. You must let us know if you would like to see your return prior to our e-filing it.  If you prefer to receive a paper copy of your return, you must let us know.
