About Us

Witchcreek Arts is a long-standing partnership between two artists who were looking for a way to support both our own work and that of other artists.

Our own careers have demanded that we confront the particular challenges that face artists trying to be true to their work, their vision, their politics, their family commitments and still afford to have a life. After training at the premiere tax firm in the U.S. serving artists and working there for three years, we opened our own practice. Our reputation for sound yet innovative tax law interpretation and quality work grew and, much to our surprise, we developed “cachet.”

Our record with the IRS is extremely strong. Since we only work with artists and artists are among the most audited tax filers, our reputation serves our clients well. Auditors know that, while we are aggressive, we are also honest and our clients are committed (if not yet financially successful) artists. Every time an artist is audited and wins, we believe that the auditor and the IRS garner a better understanding that a life in the arts is both serious and legitimate work which is not easily pigeonholed into IRS formulae.

We have run galleries, performance spaces and a county newspaper, established non-profits and operated community foundations, done extensive fundraising and publicity for arts and political work, started a record company, opened a bookstore, performed, exhibited and published our own work in major venues and museums/galleries.

Still focusing exclusively on tax preparation and consulting services tailored to meet the needs of artists, we continue to offer a unique combination of moral support, career counseling, kick-ass inspiration and the hand-holding sometimes necessary to get artists to make a full commitment to their work. All of this is done while using our expertise to help clients navigate through the convoluted world of taxes.

A luta continua.
